I like to see the following interfaces added to tideway data: XML, SQL, HTML, and plain formatted text. In addition, I would like to have the same data provided by sysinfo (http://www.magnicomp.com/sysinfo ). Thanks.

Modelling relationships between technology and social communities

“Atlas for Lotus Connections is a social networking application that allows users to visualize their current network of contacts and see how they can extend that network to tap into valuable resources and trusted experts across an entire organization.“

http://www-306.ibm.com/software/lotus/services/assets.html

I think this is just one example of how the social networks which have been parading around the web for the next couple of years are likely to manifest themselves in the enterprise.

For a long time vendors have been modelling the relationships between configuration items (sometimes entire systems) and their business communities using formal organisational data.

In the new age where it seems to be becoming acceepted that a business ‘edge’ may be gained by allowing the rapid formation of dynamic communities of like-minded individuals, perhaps the future of understanding and servicing the needs of our clients is within understanding these new communities and their technical dependancies ?

AIX OS version information

My client thinks it is more useful to extract the oslevel + the service pack level during a scan. At the moment, the discovery script only uses the command ‘oslevel’ which shows the base maintenance level. The command ‘oslevel -s’ also shows the service pack level. (The output format is a bit different but that shouldn’t be a problem.)
E.g.:
In Tideway the AIX version of a certain server now shows: 5.3.0.0
Tivoli however, shows version 5.3.0.30 for that host. If Tideway used ‘oslevel -s’, it would retreive 5300-03-00 which can be reconstructed to 5.3.0.30 as well.
That way, the client shouldn’t turn to Tivoli to obtain the necessary info.

Rgrds,

Scan over multiple ssh ports

In our environment we have hosts that only accept ssh connections over port 22 and other hosts that only accept traffic over another port. At this moment we have to scan everything twice in order to cover all hosts. First we scan on port 22, then we change the port in the /usr/tideway/.ssh/config and rescan the lot.
It would be nice if we could tell Tideway Foundation to try both ports during a scan.
Another way might be to specify the port for each credential in the credential vault.
