Product Description

Many organizations use network automation to contain network management costs while providing the quality and responsiveness their business demands.

HP Network Automation software goes beyond multi-vendor network configuration management to eliminate errors before they occur and deliver measurable cost savings, using process-powered automation. HP Network Automation delivers real-time visibility, automation and control of your ever-changing network.

The end result is a resilient, maintainable and cost-effective network that meets network compliance for both company standards and government regulations.

Integration Overview

The integration would require to worked on trying to map the fields that we import for Ciscoworks to Opsware's NAS. Any integration to import network nodes should be done with NAS and not SAS.

In the initial analysis done by Jerrod Tuck, there were two fields that couldn't be mapped (but this was based of a schema that was printed and missing a few tables so with a little research it shouldn't be too difficult to finish).

They store all of their information in a database and we could retrieve it that way. There is also an API where we could retrieve the information without the need for an export of NAS data and then an import in to TFW. I don't know if there is an export utility similar to the way you would do it in Ciscoworks but with some investigation we could find out

Benefits

[!Images^serverswitchmismatchreport.jpg|width="100%"!]

  • By including switches into the dependency maps, users can quickly understand the dependency of business applications to the edge components of the network layers.
    • help with spotting single point of failure (e.g. an application production and DR instances sharing the same switch)
    • better impact analysis (need to update a switch or a switch is down)
    • improved root cause analysis (e.g application not available. Switch down, but typically monitoring system don't relate the 2 together. Using Tideway integration with CiscoWorks, you can now bridge the gap)
  • Since the import also includes network configuration, network resiliency reports can help identify speed misconfiguration and provide an optimization opportunity with quick ROI.
