Before IT can get to the big work in the data center – decommissioning the inefficient or useless servers, virtualizing the existing resources, relocating to energy-efficient sites – they need accurate and thorough intelligence about their IT assets. What do they have, and where? What is the relationship between business applications and energy consumption? Without this intelligence, it’s difficult to determine what to do to reduce emissions, much less how to do it without risking the interruption of business-critical, revenue-generating services.
