Tideway Named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer
NEW YORK and LONDON: December 4, 2008 – Tideway, one of the fastest growing providers of data center search software, today announced it has been named a World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer 2009. One of only 34 companies chosen worldwide and among only 15 IT companies, Tideway was selected by a panel of 44 global technology experts for its innovation and vision in IT management, potential market impact, and proven customer adoption.
Tideway’s flagship offering, Tideway Foundation, automatically discovers and maps complex data center assets and applications. It provides a complete topology of all physical and virtual IT assets, including servers, software, applications and switches, as well as multiple types of inter-system dependencies and relationships across all technology layers. Foundation also provides companies with a single platform from which to analyze data center and application power consumption statistics and map and track their carbon footprint. Global organizations are leveraging Foundation today to identify data center vulnerabilities, eliminate risk and drive down the cost of IT operations.
Simon Post, Chief Technology Officer at The Carphone Warehouse states, “Having spent many years in technology, it’s rare to find a product that meets a clear and complex need within IT, and does it in an easy to use way. For once, a product that ‘does what it says on the tin’, including what the software salesman promised!”
To be selected as a Technology Pioneer, a company must be involved in the development of life-changing technology innovation and have the potential for long-term impact on business and society. In addition, it must demonstrate visionary leadership and show all the signs of being a long-standing market leader – and its technology must be proven. Previous Technology Pioneers include 23andme, Amyris Biotechnologies, Dr Reddy Laboratories, Google, Gridpoint, Infosys, Kaspersky Lab, Mozilla Corporation and Nanosolar. The entire list of Technology Pioneers, including profiles and interviews with the executives of the selected companies, can be found at: http://www.weforum.org/techpioneers.
“Apax Partners has a history of backing companies that are poised for market dominance and display significant growth potential,” said Peter Skinner, Apax Partners. “Tideway has demonstrated a clear leadership position with the most widely deployed solution in the industry. It continues to be a consistent innovator, well positioned to capitalize on the growing market opportunity and further its status as the dominant provider in the category.”
“We congratulate the 34 newly selected Technology Pioneers for their remarkable achievements and welcome them to the wider community of the World Economic Forum. During these difficult times, we are certain that the technologies driven by these visionary companies will contribute to the next wave of growth, with the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that characterizes them,” said André Schneider, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the World Economic Forum.
